This INT rule is very explosive but can forge beautiful patterns. They like to make little branches off the big full pattern.

Take a look at this soup.

Code: Select all

x = 32, y = 32, rule = B2ci34ci/S3ai5678
32o$32o$32o$32o$32o$32o$32o$32o$32o$32o$32o$32o$32o$32o$32o$32o$32o$32o
$32o$32o$32o$32o$32o$32o$32o$32o$32o$32o$32o$32o$32o$32o!
I've decided to call this "Jagged Swords" due to the nature of random 90 degree angles formed in soups. There are a lot of lines.

Has this rule been documented yet?

EDIT: Found an adjustable spaceship

Code: Select all

x = 13, y = 15, rule = B2ci34ci/S3ai5678

its not that hard to make, really. you just have to put in a ton of conditions for stuff and you have an arm that extends! i have one issue... turns loom over me like how am i meant to do them?

edit:
i found a rule where the crosses are indestructible no matter what you do

Code: Select all

x=0,y=0,rule=b2-an3i8/s1c2ek3i4ante5eaijrc678
.o.$
ooo$
.o.$
try. draw stuff around the cross and see if the cross dies.

how i did this is adding survival conditions that prevents anything that contains a 3i or 4e from dying. this means i added all of s678, because they all include 3i.

edit 2: this stuff has a c/2!

Code: Select all

x=0,y=0,rule=b2-an3i8/s1c2ek3i4ante5eaijrc678
.o..$
ooo.$
.o..$
....$
.oo.$

edit 3: 10 cell 4x6 infinite growth

Code: Select all

x = 4, y = 6, rule = B2-an3i8/S1c2ek3i4aent5-knqy678
2bo$bo$2bo$4o$2bo$obo!
also i just realizes the crosses die in a few cases (but not that common)

A rule with strong diamonds evolving from obo sparks. It's fairly active (sometimes explosive) and has a cool c/12

Code: Select all

x = 5, y = 5, rule = B2-ak3-ajnr4a8/S02ce3i4aint5aenr6-kn78

A similar rule with some spaceships and a 180 degree reflector. I suspect other circuitry could be constructed in this rule or its variants

Code: Select all

This rule can form small diamond-shaped clusters that expand very slowly, but this should happen extremely rarely:

The rule has extensible spaceships and puffers like the moons in B2ae/S, in addition to another family of strange puffers:

Code: Select all

x = 86, y = 5, rule = B2k3aiy4a/S0
2bo6bo8bo10bo12b3o6b3o8b3o10b3o$o3bo2bo3bo4bo3bo6bo3bo8bo5bo2bo5bo4bo
5bo6bo5bo$13bo8bo10bo23bo10bo12bo$24bo10bo34bo12bo$37bo47bo!
It's possible to "corderize" the puffers by adding duoplet or more duoplets, albeit with original exhaust from the center:

Code: Select all

x = 86, y = 7, rule = B2k3aiy4a/S0
2bo6bo8bo10bo12b3o6b3o8b3o10b3o$o3bo2bo3bo4bo3bo6bo3bo8bo5bo2bo5bo4bo

o8bo10bo4bo18bo10bo12bo4bo$35bo47bo$36bo47bo!
First discovered puffer with side ships:

Code: Select all

x = 11, y = 5, rule = B2k3aiy4a/S0

NimbleRogue found a rule with some nice 'mealworm' ships on Discord, and I ended up finding this 11619c/57420 in it:

Code: Select all

x = 61, y = 3, rule = B2ce3y4ait6c7e8/S01e2i3-cikq4air5iy6ci8
59o$8ob3obob3ob3obobob3ob3obob9obob5ob2ob3o$59o!
The other ships are 55c/259 and 516c/2595:

Code: Select all

x = 20, y = 19, rule = B2ce3y4ait6c7e8/S01e2i3-cikq4air5iy6ci8
3b15o$3b2obob5ob6o$3b15o14$b17o$2ob3obo2b5o2b3o$b17o!
I suspect there are more high period ships in this rule to find, but they may be very rare.
The torch of 5S has been passed on again, and is now managed by speedydelete. It can be found here. Also check out my program EPE, a tool for searching for patterns in various rulespaces.

This rule has a plethora of small common spaceships:

Code: Select all

x = 6, y = 4, rule = B3-c4j5ak6n7e/S2-kn3-cq4a5aq78

[[ RANDOMIZE RANDWIDTH 100 RANDHEIGHT 100 ]]
Here's a collection. From left to right, with the common ones given letter names, they are:
  • c/16o (P), minpop 12 (evolves from a pi-heptomino)
  • c/8o (T), minpop 4
  • c/7o, minpop 12
  • 2c/10o, minpop 11
  • 2c/6o (R), minpop 6
  • c/2o, minpop 9
  • c/4d (G), minpop 5
  • 3c/13d (L), minpop 5
  • c/6d, minpop 9
  • c/10d (C), minpop 7

I don't know if there's any other engineering potential -- hopefully apgsearch will reveal more. Here's the catagolue.

Rule:Arcologia

This rule was golfed to have these reactions:

Code: Select all

x = 21, y = 6, rule = Arcologia
4.BA4$B11.B6.B$A10.A8.A!

Code: Select all

x = 33, y = 11, rule = Arcologia
22.A$23.B4$AB9.BA4$31.B$32.A!
One can easily realize that the two main ships in this rule are a c/2o and a c/3d (both with minpop 2), and all the objects I know of in this rule can be built from them. Notice that similar types of collisions exist for both ships, meaning that technology in this rule (as far as I know) is not inherently biased toward one spaceship.

I name this rule Arcologia because arcologies are often portrayed as self-sustaining, and given that most of the stable structures (i.e. those with a displacement of 0) here are made solely out of ships, they can be portrayed as 'self-sustaining'. The suffix -ia was added just for fun.

p(12+4n)

Code: Select all

x = 29, y = 8, rule = Arcologia
2.BA8.BA9.BA2$B4.A4.B10.B$A4.B4.A5.A4.A$16.B11.A$2.AB24.B$13.AB$25.AB

p(12+6n)

Code: Select all

x = 50, y = 8, rule = Arcologia
25.B4.B10.B6.B$.B2.B7.B4.B6.A6.A8.A8.A$A4.A5.A6.A3$A4.A5.A6.A$.B2.B7.
B4.B6.A6.A8.A8.A$25.B4.B10.B6.B!
These oscillators, with periods 8 and 6 seem to be in the same homologous series as the above oscillators (I do not think these are OMOS: to me these are borderline cases):

Code: Select all

x = 14, y = 6, rule = Arcologia
.BA7.A2.A$B9.B2AB$A3.A$4.B$2.AB6.B2AB$10.A2.A!
Obviously, larger variants of these oscillators can be created, and constructing these is similar to constructing lakes in CGOL.

Code: Select all

x = 49, y = 20, rule = Arcologia
30.B4.B6.B4.B$8.BA19.A6.A4.A6.A2$6.B$6.A5.A$12.B$29.A18.A$2.BA10.BA14.

A4.A6.A$9.AB19.B4.B6.B4.B!
The smallest c/2o-based GMOS at p14:

Code: Select all

x = 11, y = 11, rule = Arcologia
4.BAB4$B9.B$A9.A$B9.B4$4.BAB!
GMOS based off c/2os with period 14+4n can be made, like this p18:

Code: Select all

x = 13, y = 13, rule = Arcologia
5.BAB5$B11.B$A11.A$B11.B5$5.BAB!
Similarly, any GMOS based off c/3ds can be made with period 15+6n.

Code: Select all

x = 10, y = 10, rule = Arcologia
2.A4.A$.B6.B$A8.A5$A8.A$.B6.B$2.A4.A!

Code: Select all

x = 12, y = 12, rule = Arcologia
2.A6.A$.B8.B$A10.A7$A10.A$.B8.B$2.A6.A!
Attempts to make larger variants of the GMOSes, unlike those of the OMOSes, will fail:

Code: Select all

x = 37, y = 37, rule = Arcologia
17.BAB5$12.B11.B$12.A11.A$12.B11.B5$5.BAB21.BAB5$B35.B$A35.A$B35.B5$5.
BAB21.BAB5$12.B11.B$12.A11.A$12.B11.B5$17.BAB!

Code: Select all

x = 30, y = 30, rule = Arcologia
2.A6.A10.A6.A$.B8.B8.B8.B$A10.A6.A10.A7$A28.A$.B26.B$2.A24.A7$2.A24.A
$.B26.B$A28.A7$A10.A6.A10.A$.B8.B8.B8.B$2.A6.A10.A6.A!
So far I have not found any patterns in this rule that does not use the four basic collisions that this rule was golfed for. I have tried apgsearching this rule and it was underwhelming, to say the least.

That's all I could discover in this rule, feel free to discover more things in it!

I bet that FWK will make a SoManyShips-ized version of this.
