F209:

Code: Select all

rle removed
It has RT69 and x=56 y=-20
The RT69 is due to FNG of H output. I don't try with eater 5, perhaps the RT can be less than 69.

EDIT by dvgrn: Yeah, even a regular fishhook eater to suppress the glider is good enough. Repeat time is 66, which is due to the initial H-to-pi conduit. The pi-to-H part has the same repeat time as the other F209 does -- 60 ticks.

Using a new W to H found by me : WFx71H (I believe I'm the first),
I managed a HLx237H (HL166W + WFx71H) with a repeat time of 138 due to the back reaction of the new W to H.
x=36, y=-38

Is there a way to extract the pi here?

Code: Select all

x = 13, y = 17, rule = B3/S23

I'm not aware of any stable "pi-to-something" conduits that could be appended to the G -> pi catalyst (G-to-pi catalyst (August 2023)) to safely move the reaction away.

It should be possible to assemble an engineered "conduit" that technically solves the puzzle, e.g. using this reaction:

Code: Select all

x = 25, y = 27, rule = B3/S23
bo$2bo$3o6$16b2o$15bo2bo$15bo2bo$16b2o5b2o$23b2o3$19b2o$19b2o2$8b2o$8b
o2bob2o$9b3obo$13bo$9b3ob3o$8bo2b2o3bo$8b2o4b2o$10b4o$10bo2bo!
But then you will need to append a recovery mechanism that uses the extracted glider to delete the leftover beehive and rebuild the pond+block constellation, which will result in a large slow useless device.

Well, one would need to find an alternate way to flip that loaf, given how bulky that eater is, would be nice to see how to g-to-"loaf flip" in general, tried some thing, but that's not working:

Code: Select all

x = 91, y = 98, rule = LifeHistory
6$34.2A16.2A$34.2A16.A$53.A$52.2A$35.A2B10.B.BA$34.3AB.B7.2A2B3A$34.

Yes it's known, and can be described either as Rx113 or as HRx113H. (The letter 'H' can be omitted simultaneously both at the beginning at at the end, because Herschels are the default.)

Repeat time is 318 ticks, due only to the SE-traveling glider that passes back through the entire circuit -- if that could be suppressed, repeat time would be a very reasonable 118 ticks. So the conduit doesn't quite fit the criteria for the H-to-H collection.

One of its unusual features is that it produces two extra output gliders that are not the first or second natural gliders of the input Herschel.
Is the R64 at the end really neccesary? A L125 can be made with the removal of the R64.

The problem with that is connectability. What else could be attached, instead of the R64?
I don't see a good reason to catalogue a conduit that can only be connected in one known way (to R64). It's easier to catalogue the resulting F189.

Can anyone find a way to attach F116, for example? (The glider hits the block.) Or Fx119? (Need to eat both parallel gliders.)

I don't see an obvious way to connect to HF110B, HLx111R or other conduits with same first catalysis (the glider hits the non-Spartan 14-bit still life). There might be some non-obvious non-trivial combo, but that's going to be recorded as a separate conduit, because of being nontrivial.

I don't see an obvious connectability with HR143B / Rx202. The internal glider gets eaten by the eater 3, but the need to consume the FNG of the intermediate Herschel interferes with the need to route the output B-heptomino into some later conduit. Again, any nontrivial combo is going to end up catalogued as a separate indivisible conduit. Likewise for HR160(x)C.

H-to-X conduits involving the transparent block reaction as the initial Herschel-consuming step are out of question, unless some trick can remove that glider before it hits the transparent block. Again, any such trick would lead to a separate conduit, not "L125" but something else.

HR71P? Doesn't seem to work. HNW36T126? Doesn't seem to work. H-to-G16?

Yet another Fx119 variant, doesn't seem too useful...

If a way is found to remove the leftover block, one would have a Lx244/HLx244H conduit (left), which would be connectable (right). Probably would make sense to catalogue separately, if completed.

There is a conduit that manages to delete that block, but it is not compatible with that h-to-r-to-h input, there are 2 eaters that are too close.

As far as that "300 rule goes", I think there might be some exception, and managing to make g0 gliders is one of them, and since that works with a 180 reflector, that's the 4th instance of this working, which covers a lot of +4X delta delays between gliders:

There might be some non-obvious non-trivial combo, but that's going to be recorded as a separate conduit, because of being nontrivial.
For example, here is a L242 / HL242H conduit.

The 183-tick H-to-B stage involves the forward glider predecessor removing an unwanted block, and a Jubjub reflector reflecting the forward glider (which is still produced) back to perform a block pull on a new leftover block.

The 59-tick B-to-H stage (Conduit 1) can be trivially replaced (e.g. with BRx46B), yielding more Herschel conduits.

Code: Select all

x = 59, y = 72, rule = LifeHistory
