Can anyone help complete this partial HR(x)74B conduit? The topmost block turns into a tail, but none of the replacement catalysts for that situation work. Alternatively, is there a way to turn that beehive back to a block with a stable catalyst? (Shown with BFx59H)

The penultimate reaction could make a longboat factory, if there is a compact way to get the R-pentomino in

For a second I thought that was the same reaction in the Herschel transmitter because it was orientated strangely.

Is there anything that can be done about the pair of blocks? Each side of the reaction allows for a pi-to-B, so if one of the sides be coaxed into eliminating those blocks, it'd be a pi-to-B. And it does connect to conduit 1.

Recent finds from running barrister on the start of the speed tunnel:
top row: G-to-octomino, a few G-to-edgy-beehive (with the known one for comparison), and a G-to-2 blocks.
middle row: near misses on a stable reflector. Two where the glider crashes into a catalyst, and one where there's a block left behind.
bottom row: G-to-driftiness. Maybe a G-to-wire-signal with a bit more work.

Some of these perhaps belong in a different thread, but I'd rather write 1 post instead of 3. I'm guessing one of those edgy beehives can be made into a Gn-to-H, so it fits well enough.

Code: Select all
x = 149, y = 113, rule = LifeHistory

A complete W-to-G. I'm not sure if it connects to anything, though: the left edge of the top catalyst causes problems.

Ugh, 2 cells away from a perfect conduit. Sad. Why I posted it here is because there might be a way to add a transparent object to shift the block back.

Pi-to-B with bad input clearance. Can't find anything that connects. The first placement is the same as PF*81H in the ECC, so you'd think it'd connect to
something...

I think that conduit in the ECC is mislabeled: there are two other "PF*81H" conduits at the top of the pi-to-H section, where the input pi is oriented differently relative to the output Herschel:

I'm running a CatForce search with one transparent block/beehive/loaf, one sacrificial block, and 3 normal catalysts--the intent was to use barrister to replace the sacrificial block. But it searches configurations where the G hits the sacrificial block as well, which is how I came across this really compact transparent loaf + 3 fishhook arrangement. It sends stuff quite far, with surprisingly little debris left behind.

There is probably a way to make a g3-to-h here (with some parity delay constraint due to annoying blinker to suppress), but here is a periodic g4-to-g in the mean time:

It might be a good idea to get in the habit of posting conduits with their input in standard orientation. That way you can more easily figure out what the systematic name would be -- it's a 133-step right turn in this case.
If you search the forums for "R133", it will turn out that there have been some (periodic, or actually pseudo-stable) solutions
already posted for this problem, in this same thread just a couple of months ago.
That's not to say that there isn't a stable solution out there somewhere -- just that the problem has been looked at before, quite recently.

This can be welded with an eater 2 and ship to make another conduit

Is there anything that can be done about the pair of blocks? Each side of the reaction allows for a pi-to-B, so if one of the sides be coaxed into eliminating those blocks, it'd be a pi-to-B. And it does connect to conduit 1.
Code: Select all
x = 27, y = 56, rule = LifeHistory

This is perfect for a Hf factory though, you don’t even need to get rid of those blocks:
Code: Select all
x = 52, y = 56, rule = LifeHistory

The most obvious way to get rid of the beehive while still having good clearance would be to use a Fx119 following the BFx59H and a snark.
