Pretty crazy reaction where a tiny spaceship pushes a very sparky P34 oscillator 7 cells towards it. Maybe a sawtooth is possible?

Code: Select all

#C [[ GRID THUMBLAUNCH THUMBSIZE 2 THEME Catagolue ]]
x = 26, y = 5, rule = B2k3aijkq4acnqwz5ejqry6n7e/S1e2eik3eikny4cinyz5ejqry6n7e8

This rule looks similar to one of my unnamed rules:

Adding some rules:
B2k3aijkq4acnqwyz5ejqry6n7e/S1e2eik3eikny4cinyz5ejqry6n7e8
I added this rule while looking for interesting things the following pattern can do:

Code: Select all

#C useful p34 oscillator emitting a large spark:
x = 3, y = 3, rule = B2k3aijkq4acnqwyz5ejqry6n7e/S1e2eik3eikny4cinyz5ejqry6n7e8
bo$3o$bo!
[...]
The difference is that my rule has S4y. This results in a slight variation of dynamics, though the p105 failed replicator breaks.

Anyways, here is my qfind output for periods up to 6 (EDIT: this is from my rule):

Code: Select all

x = 227, y = 38, rule = B2k3aijkq4acnqwyz5ejqry6n7e/S1e2eik3eikny4cinyz5ejqry6n7e8

My first post! :D I've been reading various pages on these forums for a long time before I created my account. Many of the discoveries in this post are from apgsearch.

B2e3cijqy4c/S2-in3an4y has a lot of c/2o (simplified) ships:

Code: Select all

There are three c/2o fronts that can be stabilized into c/2os in many ways, for example:

There are many c/2o flotillae, for example (some may be tagalongs instead?):

Increase the period by 24 by moving the two halves 12 cells farther apart.

The tub p12 can interact with preblocks, duoplets, and other copies of itself in very many ways, which results in >2500 distinct xp12s on Catagolue.

Some oscillators. First row: 6 p2s, 2 p3s (the first one is likely the smallest, at 18 cells), and 3 p4s (there are likely many more low period oscillators)
Second row: p6, p7, p7, p8
Third row: p13 (capped gun), p14, p14, p20, p20
Fourth row: three p24s: two interesting interactions of 2 copies of the tub p12, and another p24. Can the third and largest p24 be monomerized?

Buried amongst the yls are at least two c/3d (simplified) puffers, but I’m having trouble finding them.

Out of all the symmetries I apgsearched (anonymously), D4_2+ is by far the fastest. Perhaps this is because the p13 gun isn’t very common in D4_2+. Why that may be the case, I don't know. All one cell thick lines die out and never leave their bounding diamonds, so apgsearching 1x256 will not give any objects. Across all the symmetries I apgsearched, there are >3700 distinct objects with apgcodes beginning with xs, xp, or xq.

All the parameters that can be modified are at the top. It has succeeded in finding several syntheses! Unfortunately it produces some syntheses that cannot be rewound to infinity :( Also, when apgsearch is censusing the soups (random placements of spaceships), at least with the current parameters, its speed varies a lot, despite linear growths being quite rare (compared to C1).

Are there conventions on posting multiple patterns per RLE?

D2_+1 symmetry leads to explosions along an axis; apgsearch is ridiculously slow:

To make annotating patterns easier, I'm proposing that we give the c/2o the abbreviation "T" and the 2c/8d the abbreviation "G".
Direct G-to-T:

Code: Select all

x = 20, y = 18, rule = B2cin3aceiy4cqr5k6eik78/S12-ck3cikqy4-knrtw5aknqr6ac7e8

Here's the stuff I found leading up to this; may or may not be useful.

Tell me if you discovered something interesting!
well, should I create my own OCA thread?
I had tried explaining how it works, but for unknown reasons it did not made it to the final post
