I don't know if it's connectable, especially with regards to the century (wing may be possible)

Nice job! This catalyst can be viewed as a replacement catalyst for when a boat fails in a certain way.

It also works if the chaos doesn't clear very much.

There is at least one other type of catalysis in which it can serve as a replacement for a boat, but for this catalysis, one cannot figure out whether or not it will work based solely on how the boat fails. In the RLE below, the middle example works, the examples next to the middle example do not work despite the boat trial being very similar to the middle example at generation 5, and the outer examples work despite the boat trial differing more from the middle example at generation 5.

By the way, did you create a catalyst by hand again? If so, that is impressive. Do you have any advice for others about how to find catalysts manually?
I am tentatively considering myself back.

This weird tub ancestor, which may or may not have a name, can do the cool immediate b-heptonimo-to-glider thing with just an eater as a catalyst. It looks pretty simple. Is it known?

Code: Select all

x = 12, y = 10, rule = LifeHistory

Some-active-region-to-another-active-region...
Since there is no explicit stop, I assume you are referring to the Herscheloid at 90th generation as "the product". It seems hopeless, being in the middle of the visited region. However, you can always add some blocks and use these two eater1s as an 11-plet eater or as a converter to a leaf. In any case, it is going to be hard to place the 11-plet in that spot. :-)

I bet you anything there are other ways it (this output object) can be used productively, but we are not keen on looking for those ways because it does not have a designation. I have brought up that issue at least once, but it dissipated and went nowhere. I shall not say anything more on this matter right now, except for the fact that there's a known pi-to-it:

Code: Select all

x = 12, y = 12, rule = LifeHistory

How it can be obtained from a glider input is on the Speed tunnel wiki page.

a lot of people unofficially call it the e9jp, although dvgrn stated in a post that it doesn't feel necessary for it to have a conduit nomenclature designation
the call of the p33 edge blinker factory has still not been answered... please im getting desperate you can even just use glider guns

G-to-R based off a partial that was never posted here by mvr that was never completed, until now.
i think most of us already know this due to octomino II's recognizable D2_x-symmetric evolution but if you somehow didnt know then fyi: most of the stuff above me is based on this G-to-octomino-II. and it's very edgy. G-to-X potential??? 👀👀👀

And now, we have a direct Octonimo II-to-B:

Code: Select all

It is, incidentally, compatible with the pi-to-Octonimo II:

Code: Select all

13.2A$12.A.A$12.A7.A$11.2A5.3A$2.5B4.B5.A$.11B3.B.2A$.12B2A4B$13B2A2B $20B$.20B7.B$.23B3.4B$2.23B.5B$2.30B$3.19B2D8B$4.2B3E14B2D7B2.B$6.2BE 15B2D6B.B2A$5.B3E14B2D9B2A$3.32B$2.32B$2.31B$2.32B$3.30B$5.28B$4.10B. 2B2.14B$5.9B6.4B3.7B$5.9B7.2B4.6B$7.5B8.2B5.6B$7.7B5.B2AB4.D2B2D$12.2A 6.2A6.3D$12.A16.D$13.3A$15.A!
And the immediate predecessor is also compatible with the reaction shown in hotcrystal0 reaction guns, though it uses a toad, and so does not work with every period:

Code: Select all

x = 7, y = 10, rule = LifeHistory
$5.A$3B.2AB$4B2AB$2A2BA2B$B2D4B$2B2C3B$3BCD2B$2BDC3B$B2A4B!

Even if one sticks with making an Octomino II, there are other Octomino II-accepting conduits that work here. For one thing, an Octomino II turns into two R-sequences, and one could delete one of them with an eater 5. Also, here is a way that turns it into a B-sequence. (It's equivalent to just deleting one of the R-sequences then using RF28B on the other; I'm only bothering to mention it because two blocks are cheaper than a boat and an eater 5.)

Would it be possible to make something useful by replacing one of the eaters in a Snark with a sacrificial object to create an edgy active region, then use that activity to restore the object and extract a signal?

Not really new, but I think this is the first "proper" r-to-w:

Code: Select all

x = 34, y = 34, rule = LifeHistory
26.A.A$21.2A2.A.2A2.A$9.4B8.A3.A3.3A$8.5B3.2A4.3A.2A$8.6B.B2AB5.A.A.

10B$11.9B$11.11B$11.10B$2A7.13B3.2A$.A5.13B.B3.A$.A.AB.10B.4B.BA.A$2.
2AB.6BDBDB.4B.B2A$4.8BDBD8B$3.9B3D8B$3.20B.A$3.19B.A.A$3.2D12B2.3B.A.

A$13.B7.2A!
That being said, it only then works with 1 w-to-h, and only also 1 h-to-r I believe:

Code: Select all

x = 97, y = 65, rule = LifeHistory
