Can anyone find a way to fix this overengineered herschel eater partial without massively changing it's structure? Yes i know there are smaller herschel eaters. I don't care.

EDIT 18 Apr (unrelated):
The T-tetromino in B2ai3aeir4cer5ei/S3e4e5e is a wickstretcher-like lightspeed growth, where the inside of the wick simulates a simple XOR rep, where OFF causes the back to shorten:

Code: Select all

x = 2, y = 3, rule = B2ai3aeir4cer5ei/S3e4e5e

The net growth of that object is linear, but it doesn't grow steadily. What'd it be called?

How many lanes are (or aren't, if that's easier) known?

What's the smallest and/or fastest parity-changing 0˚ glider reflector out there? (Preferably CP.) Both Bandersnatch and the March 2023 reflector are parity-preserving.
One output of the Scorbie splitter is parity-changing:

Code: Select all

x = 58, y = 49, rule = B3/S23

But is there anything smaller? I guess I'll take a look at the H-to-G and H-to-Gn converter collection.

As long if it can construct anything glider construable it is a UC.
But this means the UC can not self-replicate

Is AbhpzTa's 3G switch engine the only known 3G switch engine? Is there a list of all known 4G switch engines? Is anything known about switch engines from 2G+XWSS?

I think you draw a straight line perpendicular to the spaceship's direction of travel, right at its frontmost edge, and see if that line ever moves backward throughout a cycle the ship's evolution.

Are there any ways to support Kazyan's periodic syringe at P13 or P26? I couldn't find anything that works, but I might have missed something.

What elementary spaceships (EDIT: speeds) in life are "closest", in your opinion, to completion/solution?

Currently working to improve Life's guns and work on updating SKOPs and Isotropic rules most similar to B3/S23 to Life standards. Will get software to begin searches eventually.

Camelship. I think if we put a few more thousand CPU hours into it we can find it, or at least get really close.

Can anyone find a way to fix this overengineered herschel eater partial without massively changing it's structure? Yes i know there are smaller herschel eaters. I don't care.

That's not overengineered enough. And you massively changed the structure.
I was born on march 23 (3/23). I was destined to be here, and here i am.

Well, I wasn't sure what'd count as "massively changing the structure" -- you took the FNG and used stable splitters and reflectors to get rid of the debris, which is what I did.

Changing the shape too much. Hey, still i mean, it works so i guess that's technically a fix

Wow... those syntheses look like they come together using LV scripting commands. How do you even make those??
I manually synthesize patterns without using scripts, thinking about what methods I should use to synthesize the patterns I want.
This time, in the final step of Orion synthesis using 57 gliders, the glider marked in white collides with Eater 1 and transforms into a B-heptomino (see generation 58):

Code: Select all

x = 88, y = 91, rule = LifeHistory
.A$2.A12.A$3A13.A$14.3A2$18.A.A26.A$19.2A27.A$19.A26.3A4$5.A$6.2A19.A

2A$69.A2$61.2A$61.A.A$61.A!
This led me to realize that synthesizing Orion requires synthesizing B-heptomino at the appropriate positions and timings.
Next, I checked whether it was possible to synthesize B-heptomino with fewer gliders. I focused on the following B-heptomino synthesis method from the collection of synthesis components published by Chris857:

Code: Select all

x = 62, y = 62, rule = LifeHistory
62D$62D$2D58.2D$2D58.2D$2D58.2D$2D58.2D$2D58.2D$2D58.2D$2D58.2D$2D58.

45.2D$2D43.A14.2D$2D42.A15.2D$2D42.3A13.2D$2D58.2D$2D58.2D$2D58.2D$2D
58.2D$2D27.D30.2D$2D26.3D29.2D$2D25.2D.D29.2D$2D58.2D$2D58.2D$2D58.2D
$2D58.2D$2D58.2D$2D58.2D$2D58.2D$2D58.2D$2D58.2D$2D58.2D$2D58.2D$2D58.
2D$2D58.2D$2D58.2D$2D58.2D$2D58.2D$2D58.2D$2D58.2D$2D58.2D$2D58.2D$2D
58.2D$2D58.2D$2D58.2D$2D58.2D$2D58.2D$2D58.2D$62D$62D!
Using this, I confirmed that B-heptomino could be synthesized without affecting the 20-cell still life or toad by the gliders or sparks generated during the transformation process.
However, if the blocks were synthesized before the B-heptomino synthesized, the gliders used to synthesize the B-heptomino would collide with the blocks, so it was necessary to synthesize the blocks after synthesizing the B-heptomino:

Code: Select all

x = 43, y = 50, rule = LifeHistory
34.A$12.2A20.A.A$11.A2.A19.2A$11.A2.A$12.2A6$2A$A.A$.A.A6.2A$3.A5.A.A
$3.2A4.A$6.2A.2A3.2D$7.A6.2D$5.A.A$5.2A3$2.3A12.D$.3A13.2D$18.2D$17.2D
$2.A$2.3A$5.A$2.2A.A$.A2.A$2.2A$4.3A$4.A2.A$5.A.A$6.A11$30.3A$30.A$31.
A9.A$40.2A$40.A.A!
This allowed me to synthesize B-heptomino with 3 gliders instead of having to collide 1 glider into Eater 1 which was synthesized with 4 gliders. As a result, the synthesis cost of Orion was lowered to 55 gliders.
