Umm... That's Paul Callahan's spartan G->Block factory. I refound the same thing a while ago :?
If you are doing G -> X searches with HF collisions, you're probably going to see this too, by chris_c:

Can anything be done to the pi to restore the block while producing an output, or is that too much to ask?

Almost p14: oscillator:

Unfortunately, there is likely no way to turn this into an actual oscillator.

I would put things like this in the category of "useless discoveries" (e.g. "things that are interesting, but there is no hope of salvaging them"), because the bits that need to be fixed are on the interior, and very likely unreachable by any external mechanism.

On the other hand, mechanisms that rely on incorrectly-reforming exterior cells have a much better chance of being hassled into working.

The NE glider is too close to the B-heptomino to safely approach if any of the 2-glider B-heptomino generaters are used. Fortunately, one of them does work (and slightly faster) if you move the NE glider one square NW. (I did not have this method of making a bookend in my collection, and it allows one to add a bookend less obtrusively, such as in this case, so it's actually useful. Thanks for the idea!).

Unfortunately, this causes two of the glider streams to cross, and a kickback reaction doesn't fit. To make the B-heptomino, no gliders can come from the NE because of the stream-crossing, nor SE, because they would pass through the base still-life. Fortunately, I know of one 3-glider B-heptomino maker where all the gliders come from the NW and SW, but this single-glider catalysis gets too close. I did manage to find a different 2-glider catalysis:

Because Life has been studied so extensively, and has literally hundreds of threads here, it makes sense to have special threads for Unsure Disoveries, Useless Discoveries, etc. in Life. Other CAs tend to have sufficiently small amounts of research in them, that a single thread is usually sufficient for all discoveries in any one particular CA (or group of closely-related CAs). Unsure and useless discoveries in those CAs should probably fit within those threads themselves.

Pretty sure you meant to say 11c/162 - it simply cannot move 162 cells in only 11 generations. But yes, this should be posted in OCA.

Good luck. If you happen to find any catalyst arrangements that produce a block, but in the wrong place, do you mind collecting them? No need to sort or anything; just dump them in a "these are now Kazyan's problem" file. I'm making a signal-to-block compilation, which is just being casually added to as I find new block displacements.
