Stickman.. with the most important extremities

Post by simlei » November 5th, 2009, 5:02 pm

Hi there,
today was my first time I ever toyed around with the game of life.
I drew random figures in an application named "Golly", and after about 20 minutes I saw a figure creating itself from my pattern, which was so funny, I had to share it.

Look yourself:

It's definetely mine, and you shouldn't be able to find this pattern somewhere on the net ;) i added a note in the video at the very and with a link to this post.
What do you think about it? ^^

Welcome to the board!

Interesting, but maybe a bit inappropriate?

Basic stick:

Code: Select all

x = 16, y = 14, rule = B3/S23
2$6b3o$6bobo$6bobo4$7bo$6bobo$7bo!
Visuals:

Code: Select all

OOO
O.O
O.O
...
...
...
.O.
O.O
.O.

1) Its just my first try
2) my stickman is better
3) its not about the penus, just about hte coincidence, to have a working pattern after 10min ;)

no offense, but i dont want to read the rules..

It is a little boy's game, to write new words they have just learned on the outhouse walls.

And misspelt, for that matter.

When I said that people are looking for a pattern that can reproduce, I think that you've taken it too literally. :lol:
What do you do with ill crystallographers? Take them to the mono-clinic!

=)
i just toyed around with it, producing symmetric patterns which freezed after a while. And then this came up, just astounding. Just wanted to share it.

Sorry for misspelling words, I'm not a native english writer.

You might like this then:

Code: Select all

x = 5, y = 6, rule = extendedlife
.A.A$A.F.A$AF.FA$.A.A$.A.A$2.A!
It's in a different rule though, but you can get the rule elsewhere on this forum.

If you remove the bottom cell from that pattern, it evolves into an interesting p26 oscillator, which resembles the evolution of a Pi-Heptomino in some generations.

Code: Select all

x = 5, y = 5, rule = extendedlife
.A.A$A.F.A$AF.FA$.A.A$.A.A!
