For those who are curious, a candidate model can be found at this post with a custom ruletable. GUYTU6J (talk) 14:55, 14 February 2022 (UTC)
The original suggestion from this post seems to be more of a concept and less of a practice. Is the rule table demonstration above enough, or it is mandatory to have the keyword "temporary cubic growth" link to an explicit Game of Life construction? GUYTU6J (talk) 01:35, 14 August 2022 (UTC)
- Might be a valid solution to create Temporary cubic growth and put examples there (and link to it from LifeWiki:Did you know/160), now that there is an observable discussion of it in several places? Confocal (talk) 02:05, 14 August 2022 (UTC)
- I am not inclined to creating a new article to explain this. Instead I may simply have a section named "Growth rates beyond quadratic" in the infinite growth article, where the first paragraph starts with "Constrained by the 2-dimensional square grid and the range-1 Moore neighbourhood, population a pattern cannot grow infinitely at a rate asymptotically higher than quadratic", and the second paragraph starts with "That said, patterns temporarily exhibiting higher-than-quadratic population growth rates can be constructed, for instance a cubic growth." - That's another possibility - although in my own experience, long articles attempting to cover multiple things frequently fail to give a clear explanation for either of the things. Especially when there are examples to be shown and discussions that can be linked, it seems better to have a dedicated relatively short article that explains its only subject (providing examples and references as appropriate) -- and does nothing too substantial apart from that. For what it's worth, Infinite growth may be an example of a page that attempts to cover multiple things at once; I have a gut feeling that it should be several different pages instead.
