I thought this would be an interesting alternative to Kazyans' non spartan QB start, and it looks like total disaster with CatForce (not even clean glider), maybe someone willing to try some other catalyst search utility (or try CatForce on your own):

@Kazyan I agree with Scorbie, hours vs days difference sounds like -O3 option (nothing else comes to mind). I would suggest to check out the same compilation and the same input, on linux and on windows, and see if the difference remains.

Another almost Pi-to-G (typo before) that just needs cleanup. Possibly something more can be done?
EDIT: I think purturbing further the top three catalyst group would be a good task for Catforce. (after gen 70 or so)

I don't recall ever having seen anything quite so unlikely happen to an eater, no...! Catgl only uses the eater end of an eater, as a rule, so the low-probability stuff is mostly quadruple bounces of the active reaction off the eater, and conversions to boat-with-tail and back. This is the next best thing to a transparent eater.

It looks fairly specific to this particular active reaction, though -- any hope of making it into at least a "novelty" signal conduit?

At P1 you need more still lifes than that for a single Silver reflector. And unlike at p30, p120 glider streams can cross each other very easily. You could still use buckaroos as reflectors in a pinch, since they're also pretty easy to build seeds for.

-- There are big disadvantages to having to limit self-constructing circuitry to p120 synchronized signals, though, so I don't think I'll be following this line of research very far for the moment.

Does anyone happen to know what the smallest seed constellation is that produces a usable B-heptomino or Herschel to start up a p120 gun? The only single common object that converts to a B-heptomino is a boat, and that reaction isn't compatible with one of the blocks in the gun:

Looks good. I'm still kind of hoping there's a two-object B-heptomino seed that works, though -- you'd get a bonus still life that way, because the B would generate one of p120 gun's blocks.

That would certainly be a nice L67 conduit, and the R-pentomino cleans itself up beautifully. But short of engineering a glider collision to place the beehive before the Herschel gets there, the odds seem pretty low that a catalysis of that last glider+junk spark can throw a beehive or loaf back to exactly the right spot -- the offset is about (8,8).

That's not the kind of speculative search that I'm likely to even try... but don't let me stop anyone else!

I copied it into the elementary-conduits stamp collection, where it nicely filled an empty spot in the table. But does it connect to anything? I went through the C-to-X options, and everything seems to have a catalyst to the north, overlapping with some part of this conduit -- except for the C-to-R and one of the C-to-Gs, and those don't work so well for other reasons.

What's the current state of transparent-object searches using C inputs?
