By quickly posting multiple patterns, in multiple different CA, with very brief descriptions (e.g. just mentioning the period/the speed of an object, without explaining what might be interesting about it), you are leaving a choice for everyone reading the thread:
  • Check each small pattern in turn (perhaps clicking "Show in viewer" and running, or copy-pasting in Golly and running). Takes time and resources.
  • Guess more or less randomly and check two or three patterns, then scroll to the next post.
  • Scroll immediately, since it's pretty obvious that the post is little more than a dump of assorted objects of unknown interestingness.
The part "in multiple different CA" makes it impossible (at least currently) to put everything into a single viewer (unless the poster can be bothered to make a dedicated RuleLoader table and post a pattern using it, which then would force readers who want to run the pattern in Golly to install the ruletable).

This thread might be for some stuff that doesn't belong elsewhere, but it is not for everything.
Obviously some stuff doesn't really belong anywhere, and shouldn't be posted at all.

Other stuff does belong; however, it would be better still if the poster spent additional efforts to present and explain it (a few combined patterns with longer explanations / descriptions are better, compared to a lot of small single-object RLEs with very short descriptions).

Posting a collection of objects in a single CA means that the poster was indeed interested enough in this particular CA to make the collection and post it.
This boils down to some observable evidence of being genuinely curious about something you are posting (or lack thereof).

In a rule which I am personally dubbing "Apocalyptic Life" - a rule which is a combination of the Snark's Rulespace, Snark64's rulespace, and the rulespace in which Herschel Conduits function, though none actually survive to this point. It is fairly explosive, and has only a few life oscillators which survive these transitions.

I prefer type safety. Which means in particular that
  • the operations defined for sets (union, intersection, set difference) cannot be applied to integers,
  • the operations defined for integers (sum, difference, product, ...) cannot be applied to sets,

You don't really have to post multiple copies of the same spaceship to prove that it works in those cellular automata. It is very well-known that the glider works in lots of different CA. Further, the Catagolue object page for it (xq4_153) explicitly tells that the glider is preserved in the entire space from B3aijn/S2ae3jnr through to B2ikn34-r5-n678/S0234-k5678.

I agree with "nearly" as an informal description, however, "totalistic" would mean that the middle cell is counted along with its neighbours in a single count. So for example B36/S25 is totalistic ("a cell lives in the next generation iff its neighbourhood currently contains =3 or =6 alive cells"), but B3/S237 is not totalistic.

So B35r/S237 could be informally described "nearly outer-totalistic" instead.
(Likewise B3/S234w7 could be informally described "nearly outer-totalistic", due to being a "syntactically minor" tweak of B3/S237 which is outer-totalistic.)
