Here is a dirty HFx140H with an annoying Behive :

This works but with a high repeat time :roll:

This is kind of an interesting one -- I like the transparent tub. Any possibility of adding a high-clearance G-to-something that happens to knock out the extra beehive? (I haven't checked the recent G-to-Xs yet.)

There are ways to reduce that repeat time by prefixing another conduit. E.g., this ends up fitting inside of all of gmc_nxtman's old criteria for Herschel-conduit collecting (right?)

No doubt there are other prefixes that get a glider to the right place at a good time. I tried a few other promising options that didn't seem to quite work. No doubt the sacrificial boat in the above pattern could be replaced somehow, but a staged-recovery mechanism like that wouldn't fit inside 100x100:

Edit:
The Fx140 is almost a Behive Stopper :

Code: Select all

x = 74, y = 78, rule = LifeHistory
Why "almost"? I think it is already a working glider stopper, especially in the Spartan form:

Code: Select all

#C Prefixed with Fx77; the big catalyst is replaced by a Spartan catalyst from https://conwaylife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=174012#p174012
x = 78, y = 41, rule = LifeHistory

The B is a little bit close.
So, there is not too many possible connections, there is an example :

Edit:
Using a 180°1hd Glider reflector, this construction can be cleaned.
It leads a P-to-C with a very bad RT :

Code: Select all

Adding the Jubjub reflector (or another 180-degree "same-path" stable glider reflector) suffices to turn that into a "3H-to-H" stable x3 pulse divider:

That should be completable into an engineered glider-to-Herschel converter, by building a Herschel track (manually or using Hersrch) from the output Herschel back to the Herschel replacing the block, and having a fanout somewhere in the middle. Probably that could be entertaining to watch, but not too useful now that there are much smaller solutions with different properties.

That can be considered "cheating", because you are using one glider-to-Herschel converter to complete another glider-to-Hershel converter. But that means you already had a smaller solution for the task of converting a glider into a Herschel.

What I was imagining is a G-to-H along the lines of early examples based on stable Herschel track technology (although with newer components), where the Herschel is routed without any intermediate glider stages. Something like this, except there should be a smaller completion:

Code: Select all

x = 266, y = 145, rule = B3/S23

Good 8)
Why I don't try this ? It seems to me that the Blinkers wasn't accessible.

However, its right denomination is NE17T91 and here is a stamp collection version : viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1682&p=201603#p201603

Almost a fast 90° Glider reflector with +1hd vs Snark.
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem possible to avoid the inaccessible Blinker and have a Beehive instead.
