The p59 dependent reflector loop is a period-59 oscillator discovered by Nico Brown on November 18, 2022.[1] It consists of four copies of a p59 dependent reflector. The oscillator can be described as a honey farm hassler, as in some phases the active part consists of four copies of a honey farm sequence.
Glider synthesis
Chris857 found a 141-glider synthesis of the oscillator on June 23, 2023,[2][3] which he reduced to 137 gliders on July 12, 2023.[4][5] KtT lowered the cost to 136 gliders on December 4, 2023.[6]
Other uses of the dependent reflector
Matthias Merzenich used the p59 dependent reflector to reduce the smallest known true period 59 glider gun from a 14592-cell bounding box[7] to a 11782-cell bounding box, as shown below.[8]
