The duoplet is a two-cell pattern (the other two-cell polyplet is the domino.) It is a period 2 oscillator and also a phoenix in a large amount of Life-like rules, namely all rules with B2 and without B0, B1 or S1. In Life, it is an occasionally seen spark that can be produced by e.g. the oscillator 41P7.2.
