The 4-in-a-row Cordership is a c/12 diagonal spaceship that was discovered by wwei23 on September 9, 2020.[1] Consisting of four switch engines in a direct line, its period is 192 instead of the usual 96 because of the period-doubling interaction of the at the back of the spaceship.
The spaceship is essentially a combination of two copies of a period-96 puffer that creates an eater 1 and a block on its own. This was likely found by Paul Tooke in January 2004, as the comment for ruler indicates, but years later it got attention again after being rediscovered in a custom apgsearch script that randomly arranged two switch engines and a block. This spaceship was found by arranging said puffers symmetrically to remove their collective debris.
Ian07 created a 14-glider synthesis of the new Cordership on the same day.[2] wwei23 constructed glider-to-4RC and 4RC-to-glider converters on September 17 and 18 respectively.[3][4]
