PiLife is an isotropic non-totalistic cellular automaton with rulestring B37e/S23, noted for its various puffer mechanisms. Unlike DryLife, is not explosive, although it takes somewhat longer to settle.

Rules

INT Moore R1 7e.png

PiLife is identical to Life, except cells are born in a configuration that resembles the middle cell of a pi-heptomino.

Patterns

From DryLife

The Goldenhead evolution and Flower garden work in this rule. The R-pentomino based puffer also works, but the 2-engine corderisation and spinner do not. The xWSS from Life work in this rule, and the Lumps of muck sequence behaves simillarly to how it does in DryLife. The Pulsar is more common in this rule due to one phase of the flower garden sequence consisting of two Pre-pulsars.

Puffers

Besides the 9c/28 puffer, the I-heptomino evolves into an 11c/52 diagonal puffer which can be stabilized with a beehive to form a spaceship. The B-heptomino is very flexible and can be turned into puffers of various periods, including a natural 74c/382 puffer.[1]

Character Chaotic

B37c/S238 is an almost explosive variant of PiLife with S8 added, causing it to inherit patterns from EightLife. This rule has a natural sparking period-10 oscillator and a (21,6)c/177 puffer.
