p3 bumper is a variant of Tanner Jacobi's bumper found by Arie Paap in April 2018. This bumper allowed Entity Valkyrie to make the new smallest p57 in October 2018. An alternate form of the period 3 oscillator catalyst (based on the caterer) is shown below. It uses a loaf, eater 1 and an edge-repair sparker.

For bounding box optimization purposes, it's also possible to replace the eater 1 with a 33P3.1, saving one row along the south edge at the cost of a higher population. This also works with a p6 bumper, p9 bumper, p12 bumper or a p15 bumper.

The repeat time for all these variants is 36 ticks, as shown.
