Discovery date 1970?

Here's what we know:

  • The MWSS and HWSS were found in 1970 explicitly by extending the LWSS when it was found.
  • bo$o$o2bo$3o! (underweight spaceship, dot spark absent) becomes a fleet.

We can assume that if they tried extending it, they also tried contracting it. Even though it's diagonally symmetric and therefore obviously couldn't have made a shorter LWSS, I think they would have tried just to see what it would make.

We have no concrete evidence of this, but we also have very little of anything from 1970, since Lifeline started in 1971. Do you think it's safe to say that the ship-tie and fleet were found in 1970 because of what I described above? HotdogPi (talk) 13:00, 15 June 2023 (UTC)

IMHO the only "safe" way out is to describe unknowns as unknowns. Even the most plausible guesses and assumptions can fail against something as simple as "for whatever reason, nobody did actually do/check/construct that". I think this is the same story as with forum posts claiming "this is obviously known" without giving links/references that support the claim. Sometimes simple things are overlooked.
