| This article needs to be expanded with: The Glider-producing puffer 2, which produces gliders and Big S indefinitely. |
Puffer 2 was the second puffer to be found and was discovered by Bill Gosper.[1] It is extremely dirty and its tail does not stabilize until generation 5533, after which it stays at period 140. It consists of a B-heptomino (shown here one generation before its standard form) escorted by two lightweight spaceships at a period of 20. Its debris can be stabilized by a third lightweight spaceship as in ecologist, or a glider as in sidewinder. A pulsar is formed at the south-western side in generation 4957.
